A simple solution

Traditionally, files get timestamps on creation and modification. Which is pretty helpful when using search filters to narrow down to a particular date.

It’s easy to think that these date attributes are telling you when you created/modified your document (be it music, text document, image etc), but in fact they are telling you when a certain file on your hard drive was created/modified. These attributes are fragile and sometimes get cleansed on some types of copying.

A simple solution to this issue if you want to preserve a documents creation date is to type it in the file name. “vacation.jpg” becomes “20060807 vacation.jpg”.

Just thought I’d mention the obvious.
Anyone got an alternate solution?
